Activation and e-Balance Top-up

The activation takes place instantly upon payment for credit Top-up online or in store. The minimum and maximum activation amounts for online purchase of e-gift card are as follow: min £10 max £200.

Spending your e-Balance

Formosan e-Balance can only be spend at Formosan Tea Bar, Oxford OX1 4DF in the United Kingdom. It may be used to purchase goods of a higher price than the amount on the account, on payment of the difference. Cannot be exchanged for cash or used to pay for online products and services or to buy e-gift card. If any item purchased with a e-Balance is subsequently exchanged for an item of a lower price or refunded, any money owing will be added to the remaining balance on the account. If you do not spend the entire balance on the account, the remaining balance will be updated after each transaction and it will be available to check online.

Period of validity

Formosan e-Balance credit is valid for the period of 12 months from the date of purchase. Any remaining balance will be cancelled on expiry of the validity period. Balance enquiries can be obtained online. e-Balance should be treated as cash; it is not cheque guarantee, credit or charge card. Formosan will not accept liability for lost, stolen or hacked accounts while it will assist in prosecution of offenders.


Cannot be returned or refunded, except in accordance with your statutory rights. Under the Regulations, (as outlined above), if you are contracting with us as a consumer online, you have the right to cancel your order for e-Balance at any time up to 14 calendar days after the day on which you place your order, provided none of the balance has been spent. Changes to the e-Balance T&C

Formosan reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions of e-Balance at any time and to take appropriate action, including the cancellation of the account, if, in its discretion, it deems such action necessary. This does not affect your statutory rights.

No Conjunction with e-Loyalty points

Formosan e-Balance credit can not be used in conjunction with Formosan e-Loyalty points programme. Since products purchased using Formosan e-Balance credit are effectively already discounted, no e-Loyalty points will be applied against the products purchased. Formosan e-Balance and e-Loyalty are in fact two completely separate systems with their subjective advantages, both are simultaneously available from Members account. It is in your own discretion which programme you will find more suitable. You also may choose to take advantage of each programme in its own way. You are free to select at the time of drinks purchase whether you would prefer to spend Formosan e-Balance and get no e-Loyalty stamps or if you would rather make cash/card payment at the till and collect e-Loyalty stamp(s).
